Welcome!

The Farmington Sound Club is a new, free to join, and open to the public group for people in and around Farmington, NM who are interested in voice acting, the creation of audio dramas, podcasts, and audiobooks, audio for video, nature sound recording, and more.

By getting involved early, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the club. You can also stay informed on our club recording projects by subscribing to the newsletter below.

Feel free to check out the suggested projects via the link at the top of the page, and suggest new ones if you like.

  1. Facilitate shared participation in the production of public domain stories, audio dramas, and soundscapes.
  2. Strengthen the skills of members in their individual journeys as voice actors, audio recordists, or audio editors.
  3. Build a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community of like-minded individuals interested in the creation of spoken word and other sound recordings.

Subject to adjustment!
  • Each meeting will begin with a self-introduction of all members and visitors present, unless all attendees already know each other.
  • Each meeting will include at least 30 minutes of informative/instructional content pertaining to sound recording, voice acting, writing audio dramas, sound editing, or other pertinent topics.
  • Each meeting will allow an open question & answer time, with experienced members answering the questions of newer members or visitors, whether that experience is in acting, vocal technique, or technical aspects.
  • If possible (attendance and schedule may limit this), each meeting will also include the recording of at least one short audio drama or short story. Assembly and post-processing may not always be possible during the meeting, but could take place after the fact.

TBD. Fees will be minimal, to cover costs of a meeting space and any ongoing digital services. I (Jon Buder) will personally cover the costs for at least the first year. At the end of the first year, we will discuss it as a group and determine next steps.

  1. All recorded works produced for the Club, and/or recorded during Club meetings or outings, will be released into the public domain. Any assets used, such as scripts or existing sound effects, must be from the public domain, or with written permission from the copyright owner.
  2. Club recordings will be made available to the general public to listen to on the Club's website, ad-free and for zero cost.
  3. Individual members may choose to monetize their personal works made in collaboration with other Club members, as long as those works are not recorded during Club meetings.
  4. The Club will be family-friendly and welcoming to all ages and backgrounds, with no obscene, indecent or profane language or content allowed during meetings or in Club recorded works. We will follow the FCC’s guidelines for allowable content and language, which can be found here.
  5. The Club will prohibit discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation or gender identity), national origin, age, or disability.
  6. During meetings, we will do our best to avoid discussions of politics or religion, unless the dicussion involves historical context for a piece of literature.
